Mountain Biking The New Rage

I ride with the wind in my face, seeking the untamed. I curse the mild and mannered, leaping hurdles and defying gravity. I find solace in the difficult, madness in the mundane. Sometimes in groups sometimes alone, I beat my chest in defiance, I am the Mountain biker.- Unknown

Mountain biking is a wild and explosive activity that’s probably not suited for the faint of heart, yet mountain biking for many is rapidly becoming a great weekend activity. Doctors, lawyers, dentists, store clerks are all donning their helmets and pursuing the adrenalin rush of mountain biking.

Mountain biking tours are available in many places that offer the avid mountain biker the terrain, scenery and challenges sought by enthusiasts. Courses are presented in various skill levels from beginner to expert. Don’t believe that just because you know how to ride a bike that mountain biking offers no challenge. Mountain biking is a skill that must be learned. Serious harm can and does come to the uninitiated. Training is often available where tours are offered and is highly suggested. Unskilled adrenalin junkies and mountain bikes make bad combinations. This is a sport that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Today’s mountain bike comes in many models and varying sophistications, and being such their price range varies . Mountain bikes can come in the three and four figure range and maybe even in the five figure range. The high price of a good mountain bike can be justified by how well it is designed. These new design improvements include shocks, both spring and gas loaded. They have frames scientifically designed to reduce shock and maintain control, and tires that can withstand the rigors of an untamed terrain, along with brakes that won’t be hindered by natures wild.
